Night of the Arts 2025
Friday 16 May 2025
Get ready to immerse yourself in a world of artistic wonder as Night of the Arts (NoTA) returns for its third year.
Get ready — NoTA is back!
Get ready Invercargill—Night of the Arts (NoTA) is back and this year, we’re turning up the heat with a Fringe twist!
This year’s Night of the Arts (NoTA) brings fringe flair to the heart of Invercargill, transforming Don Street, Dee Street, and Connections Arcade into a hub of live performance, hands-on creativity, and unexpected encounters. From 5–9pm on Friday, 16 May, the city centre becomes a canvas — and you’re invited to explore and discover every corner of it.
Expect over 20 performance artists, 15+ installations, 8 music groups, and all-new creation stations where you can try Oamaru stone carving, poi spinning, and more. This event is for people of all ages.
NoTA is not just a show, it’s an invitation to get up close to creativity as it happens.
New Fringe Highlights:
- The Amber Temple (Dunedin): a darkly mystical theatrical mash-up of original music, contemporary dance, and gritty storytelling.
- Musical Furniture: ever touched a chair and heard a song? Step into this curious, kinetic experience.
- Walking Art Train by Herding Cats: a living, breathing exhibition roving through the streets.
- Live music all night at Tuatara, featuring headline act Marty Astone.
- Poetry Pharmacist prescribing words for the soul
And there’s more to discover:
- Invercargill Public Library, He Waka Tuia, and Miharo open until 9pm with special activities.
- Temporary window displays and pop-up art moments throughout the Don and Dee Street blocks
- Surprises tucked into shopfronts, alleyways, and unexpected spaces
Not everything will be signposted — and that’s the point. Let your curiosity lead the way and uncover the unexpected.
So don your winter woollies, gather your crew, and experience the creative energy of NoTA 2024 — Invercargill’s very own street-side celebration of the arts.
