Marie Graham

About

Marie Graham is an artist whose vibrant creations come to life through acrylics, gold leaf, and abstract compositions. Her journey into art began just six years ago when she picked up a sketchbook for the first time, having never drawn more than a stick figure. This simple act of curiosity uncovered the hidden artist within, leading to her first exhibition in Auckland, where her unique style quickly captured the attention of art enthusiasts. A native of Invercargill, Marie recently returned to Southland, where the tranquil surroundings have become a wellspring of inspiration. Her studio, nestled within the walls of a century-old church, serves as both a sanctuary for creativity and a space for artistic exploration. The Church Gallery, a 300m² haven, is fully accessible with ramp access and surrounded by beautiful gardens, with roses set to bloom. Marie’s collection includes a range of acrylic artworks, fine art prints of charcoal and pastel portraits, and decoupaged candles. Believing that art extends beyond canvas, she also showcases a selection of redesigned furniture, featuring original art that has been decoupaged, hand-painted, or stenciled onto each piece. Visitors are invited to explore not just the gallery but often her home as well, which many mistake for part of the gallery experience. This shared space, where art and life intertwine, brings Marie immense joy and allows her to connect with those who appreciate her work. Through her art, Marie Graham invites viewers to journey with her into a world where imagination knows no bounds.
