Mini-studios at Whare Taupua are pop-up creative spaces where 10 artists will create, and showcase their art from. Each artist brings a different style, making it a vibrant hub of creativity during the Arts Trail.

My practice explores the possibilities of black ink on paper through process, sensitivity and restraint. Each work begins in my journal, fragments – brief sketches and small gestures, that along with washes and marks, accumulate into larger compositions.

I am drawn to the tonal contrasts of ink. Fluidity against control, light against depth. These semi abstract landscapes are not depictions of place, but emotional impressions that carry atmosphere, like half-remembered images. Each painting is a snapshot of feeling in time and an ongoing process that remains open and evolving.
