Kimberley Finnerty – The Soul’s Journey in Brushstrokes
Working from one of Arts Murihiku’s mini-studios during the Southland Arts Trail, Kimberley Finnerty invites you to step into a world where painting becomes a form of divination. Her practice moves fluidly between acrylics and digital media, exploring the unknown as shadows and light emerge across the canvas.
Each piece is more than an image—it is a spiritual journey. At times, Kimberley decodes her works through the lens of Pythagoras’ theorem, uncovering hidden patterns of initiation and transformation. Her art reflects the beauty, mystery, and rhythm of the soul’s path, offering viewers a chance to experience both the seen and unseen within her creative process.
UP-COMING EXHIBITION
Enchantment Exhibition [11 – 22 November] is a heartfelt collaboration between long-time friends Chonnie and Kimberley, brought to life in the Arts Murihiku Studio. Together, they invite audiences to step into an imaginative, playful, and deeply personal journey where childhood memories and the creative spirit of the inner child take centre stage.
This exhibition weaves together works that explore light within chaos, beauty within trauma, and joy within adversity. Adding to the magic, guest artists Carol Cooper and Noel Finnerty—whose works have influenced Kimberley’s artistic path—bring their drawings and creations spanning from 1987 to today, offering a powerful echo of inspiration across generations.
From whimsical to raw, reflective to radiant, Enchantment promises an engaging and multi-layered experience for all. Visitors are especially invited to attend the opening night on 14 November at 7pm, where a hidden surprise will be revealed when the lights go out.
