Pop-up Exhibition Brushstrokes
Fellow artist Dawn Barry and I are excited to bring you Brushstrokes — a pop-up exhibition running from 23 October to Sunday 2 November. Bursting with colour, energy, and personality, our exhibition showcases bright and joyful works from two well-known Southland artists. There’s something for everyone, and we’re sure our pieces will bring a smile to your face. We’d love for you to stop in and say hello as you make your way around the Arts Trail!
Fiona Michels
When creating my artworks I like to tell stories, with colour, humour, and memories. I love to draw inspiration from day-to-day experiences both as a child and as an adult, I enjoy including the landscape of my childhood and the pleasure and memories it brings to people.
My paintings are described as whimsical and having an essence of serenity. Each artwork takes me on a journey as it evolves, and I get a lot of fulfilment from this.
