Our warmest congratulations to Southland singer, Emma Jones, who was part of the NZ Youth Choir which recently won ‘Choir of the World’ title at the 2025 International Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales!
Emma is a former student of Southland Girls High School and a member of the FEMME choir. Emma is also a pianist and was awarded the O’Byrne Jones Music Scholarship in 2022, to support her advanced piano studies. We were delighted to hear Emma’s beautiful descant during the NZ Youth Choir’s Choir of the World Performance.
We would welcome hearing from any prospective applicants for this year’s O’Byrne Jones Music Scholarship. Applicants must either currently live in Southland or have resided in Southland for a substantial period of time, and must have attained a Grade 8 qualification in Piano (Trinity College or Royal Schools of Music). The scholarship is to support advanced studies in piano.
