About the Artist & Studio

Framed by native beech forest near Piano Flat in rural Northern Southland, my home and studio offer a tranquil setting surrounded by established gardens and abundant birdlife. This peaceful environment is a constant source of inspiration for my art and a special part of my creative journey.

Art has been a lifelong passion, and for the past 30 years I have specialised in watercolour, while also enjoying working across a variety of media. As a realist, I am drawn to capturing the character and essence of the landscapes around me, often seeking to tell a story through the places I paint.

I have a particular fascination with historic buildings, heritage sites and old, weathered farm buildings—the remnants of earlier lives and times. These subjects have a sense of history and quiet beauty that I love to capture, whether in the soft light of the landscape or through the textures and details of an ageing building.

Opening my studio offers visitors the opportunity to meet the artist behind the paintings, see where my work takes shape, and experience the tranquility, natural beauty and sense of place that inspires it.
