Kia ora koutou. I am Peter de Blois and I am Head of Music at Southland Girls High School. I direct our all-comers choir and Sanguine and co-direct our auditioned choir and Femme. I have considerable experience in directing choirs from childrens choir, Wellington Youth Choir, Nelson Youth Choir, to being Assistant Director of the NZ Youth Choir. This year I want to start an Invercargill Youth Choir. Such a choir hasn’t existed here for around 20 years. The choir will be a mixed-voice (SATB) choir of 16-25 year old. Weekly rehearsals will be held at SITs Te Rau o Te Huia. This non-auditioned youth choir will bring together singers from schools, SIT, and the local community. We intend to present 2 performances in our first year with a view to expanding that in the future.
