About

Nicknamed the ‘Goreggenheim’ by Saatchi & Saatchi boss Kevin Roberts, the Eastern Southland Gallery is a public art museum, situated in the Arts and Heritage Precinct of Gore’s CBD. Established in a former Carnegie Library building, it features permanent exhibitions dedicated to the collection of expatriate New Zealander John Money and the works of major New Zealand artist Ralph Hotere, as well as a vibrant programme of temporary exhibitions, performances, workshops and artist projects. Permanent displays include significant works by Bambarra, Baga and Dogon carvers of West Africa, major works by New Zealand artists Rita Angus, Theo Schoon and Ralph Hotere, and paintings by Australian and American artists.
