Pottery is my passion and has become much more than a creative outlet, it’s a way of life. I love every stage of the process, from sourcing and preparing clay to shaping it by hand or on the wheel, then bringing it to life with fire. For me, ceramics is a blend of science, adventure, experimentation and just a little bit of luck. Opening the kiln is always the highlight, revealing both the results I hoped for and the unexpected surprises that make every firing unique.

I create a range of functional pieces, including mugs and bowls, alongside non-functional saggar-fired works that celebrate the beautiful, spontaneous patterns created by heat, smoke and natural materials. Sharing this craft is just as important to me as making it. I enjoy teaching introductory pottery and passing on skills to new makers, helping others discover the satisfaction and endless possibilities of working with clay. My work is also available at the Arts Hub in Te Anau.
