The MAILBOX Print Programme #6

Mailbox 06: Teri Linder

Appeared in The Southland Times on Tuesday 23 July

Invercargill-based artist Teri Linder’s artwork Nature’s First Green is Gold is a watercolour piece inspired by Robert Frost’s poignant poem “Nothing gold can stay”.

This work captures the essence of nature’s fleeting moments with a delicate and intuitive touch. In her piece, Teri reflects on the brief yet beautiful transition from the first hints of spring green to the rich golden browns of winter. Teri’s composition captures this fleeting moment, reminding us of the cycles of life, growth, and change.

This theme resonates deeply with Teri, who sees her art as a way to hold space for her emotions and sensitivities and our constant evolution. Teri’s technique invites viewers to stop and contemplate, delving into their inner emotions while engaging with the world, promoting peace and self-examination. Teri’s Nature’s First Green is Gold is a heartfelt tribute to nature’s beauty and impermanence. Through this piece, Teri invites us to appreciate the golden moments in our lives, however brief they may be, and to find inspiration in the ever-changing landscape of our surroundings.
